About Us

At One More Chapter, we believe in the magic of stories and the power of meaningful discussions. Our monthly book clubs and salon-style literary workshops bring together kids and parents who share a love for reading and the literary arts.

For our younger readers, we have fun while instilling strong reading habits early, as well as an overall love of reading. Our discussions focus primarily on the story and its characters. We also guide kids towards identifying the themes of literature and its relevance to their lives.

For our older readers, we begin to examine the choices writers make. We emphasize a particular element of craft for each book and story. We emphasize the relationship between craft and vision, exploring how and why writers make particular choices, as well as how and why they take risks and break rules to make meaning.

Founded by Caroline Casper and Hilary Exelrod, One More Chapter was born out of a shared passion for storytelling and education. Caroline and Hilary met many years ago–when their daughters were in preschool together–and quickly bonded over a shared love of books and exploring new ways of learning.

Born in China and raised around the world as the daughter of a diplomat, Kat has lived in Russia, Turkmenistan, and Washington, D.C., before her family settled on a farm in Maine. Now a recent transplant to San Francisco, she's delighted to call this vibrant, cosmopolitan city home.

Tristen Gottlieb Sturm
Facilitator-San Francisco and Marin

Before entering the classroom, she worked in the music industry—a chapter she loved—but her passion for teaching led her to earn a Master's in Elementary Education from Bank Street College of Education. She began her teaching career at The Chapin School in her hometown of New York City, then moved to San Francisco, where she's spent the past 19 years at San Francisco Day School. This year, she's thrilled to step into a new role as Humanities Extension Coach. In 2023, Tristen founded The Writers' Studio, a creative space for young authors to write, collaborate, and build confidence. She holds a B.A. in English from Muhlenberg College and loves reading, writing, and being outdoors—especially during Golden Hour. A proud New Yorker at heart, she lives in Sausalito with her two kids and their pup.
